So as I mentioned in my post on Friday, I finally got around to putting the finishing Christmas touches on the dining room this weekend.
You will have already seen my living room this Christmas which has been all decked out for a couple of weeks now. If you missed that little tour, you can see that here.
While I’m not one to decorate every room (I simply don’t have the room to store that many decorations so I try to keep it simple – well, as simple as a maximalist can manage!), I do like get these two rooms into the Christmas spirit seeing as we spend the most time in these spaces.
Thanks to a couple of fab blog collaborations with both Wayfair and John Lewis, I was able to keep spending to a minimum on decorations but these few items I received were enough to feel like I had a few new ‘toys’ to decorate with.
As in the living room, I kept the palette this year to white, black and gold and I have to admit, it’s probably one of my favourite colour combos – it’s just so classic and chic.
One of my favourite areas to decorate for Christmas (aside from the tree of course) is my mantle and this year was no different. I received an unexpected voucher as a gift from DotcomGiftShop (thank you lovely peeps!!) and spent them on this gorgeous set of white ceramic miniature houses. I’m absolutely positively besotted with them.
Paired with the little white and gold tree candle holders and little gold trees that I got in past years from Next, I feel like I’ve got a little forest next to a cute little village hanging out on my mantle. The gold taper candle holders are a bit splurge-y from John Lewis but obviously, I can use them all year long. The black candles are from Amazon (affiliate link) and were only Β£10 for a pack of 10.
The faux fur stockings were from Graham & Green about 3 or 4 years ago. Of course, mine is the leopard print one!
For the table, I kept things simple – the white deer I received from Wayfair (you can see the table setting I did for my curated sale with them here) and a gold and white runner I’ve had for a few years from Zara Home.
I’ll be sharing my (fully set) Christmas table on Wednesday so stay tuned for that and yep, it’s different from the Wayfair one! But this is basically what the room looks like on a day-to-day basis! ;)
For my bar cart, I strung some simple glittery holiday gift tags in my colour scheme from BHS (sadly, no longer on the website) through a black ribbon and added a few baubles and greenery.
I used my cranberry eucalyptus on the sideboard along with a little tray filled with a few bits and baubles to give it a bit of festive cheer.
I am also quite taken with the Christmas crackers (also from BHS) – gold and whites stripes and polkadots with ‘Snap’ and ‘Bang’ on little tags.
Wayne actually asked me if I added the tags myself but no, they were just this cute when I bought them. I almost don’t even want to ‘pull’ them and ruin them because they are just so lovely! I may need to hold back a few on Christmas Day ;) The polkadot one is very Kate Spade NY-esque, no?
For the console table, I felt like the ‘beach scene’ wasn’t reading very ‘Christmassy’ to me so I just covered the print with black and gold metallic wrapping paper (also from BHS!) which just worked really well with the design of the table itself. I simply cut the paper to fit the inside of the gold frame and then secured it with two sided tape. Pretty simple but effective I think.
I also added little baubles to the eucalyptus branches and to a couple of the glasses. You can never have too many baubles around at Christmas, right?
Finally, I added a couple of simple wreaths to the paintings either side of the television to finish it all off.
So that is my Christmas dining room! If you made it this far with the million and one photos, I’ll give you a big shiny fat Christmas star.
As I said, on Wednesday, I’ll be sharing my Christmas table setting so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, what do you think of the dining room decorations this year? How have you decorated your own dining room? Go on and share, the comment box awaits!
I absolutely adore the miniature houses and trees. Love that they are a clean white. I would love them for my house too and know for sure my kids would love them.
Your dining room looks so festive and pretty.
Love it Kimberley! I especially like the idea of transforming a year-round piece of artwork with some shiny wrap – genius! I’ve yet to start on the dining room, but I have completed the living room and hallway. There may also be a few festive flourishes in the kitchen. Ooops. Maximalists unite!!
Love what you have done with the dining room :)
Brilliant idea with the wrapping paper to cover up the photo, I recently bought a large frame for the living room that I have yet to put anything in it so I think I may have to copy this idea seeing as I have some very lovely wrapping up paper that I am hesitant to use lol
Also I noticed that you have the Versace disaronno, have you seen the new roberto cavalli disaronno ? If not you should check it out, it’s an animal print one :) x
Your dining room looks amazing. I particularly like the mantle with the ‘little village’ and trees, and I found the wrapped beach scene a stroke of genius. xx
Looks fab Kimberly, a winter wonderland, what time do you want me for dinner?:)
I’ve been sharing my dining room and decs on my blog http://www.janeashton.com
Love your dining room decorations! Alas, I don’t have a “real” dining room, just a dining area in my kitchen, which is open to the living room. So with one great room design, most of the decor is in the living room. My mantel there is my piece de resistance! But I always have something in the center of my table and this year it is an old glass cake stand with glittery stuff on it. I like vintage and glitter, so lots of that amid silver and gold. It makes me happy :) I really like your idea of putting wrapping paper over art that doesn’t quite go. I am going to have to remember and try that! Thanks for your inspiration, as always!!
Gorgeous. I love your little village, so pretty. Beautifully decorated room
I so get the star! Love your styling again Kimberly. My faves being the frame/wrapping paper combo. Fab idea. And those gold candle stick holders are GORGEOUS! Such a cosy room to spend all evening eating (ok, drinking) in :) xx
It’s all looking fabulous Kimberly. I’m definitely coming round to yours on Christmas day lol x
I love the little mantle village and I think the most clever idea is covering the beach photo with that gorgeous paper! Great idea for covering something that doesn’t match the season! Looks super festive! Sharon x
I love the mantle place, the picture where you got the stags in front of it looks amazing, i can not believe its Christmas next week. Its going that fast, my advent candle is behind lol. Xxx
Love your decor Kimberly. So beautiful, cosy and glamorous. I need to start my decorating soon too. x
Everything looks so so good! Wonderfully festive in a really chic, glamorous and cosy way. The little houses and trees and candles are lovely and the wrapping paper above the console looks fantastic! Everything is gorgeous. I’d love to soak up the festive spirit at yours some time! xxx
So lovely, so glamorous and inspiring, I am in awe. x
It’s epic! So many gorgeous pieces and that colour scheme works so well with the other colours you’ve got going on in the room! What you’ve done with the wrapping is so cool, like you say it’s simple but it makes an awesome statement. I like that not everything has to be expensive to look good! X
So cocktails at yours yes?! Gorgeous as always lady!!
Absolutely epic wrapping paper genius multi-purpose skills. And the little white village! Oh I particularly adore this as every year my mom decorates the mantle of their fireplace with the most epic miniature village scene. She’s been collecting the same style of houses for years so there are about … 15 houses on their mantle. A white scarf is used for snow, a mirror for an ice skating rink, and approximately 1,000 little figures doing all sorts. Plus fairy lights. OBV. You better get cracking, Duran :P
Love it all Kimberly! The village, the deer. Everything looks beautiful!
Superb styling and decoration, I love it all xx
This looks great – and I love the black, gold and white colour scheme – chic yet festive! Your idea of stringing up those gift tags is such a great decoration idea, too – I might have to try that if I ever get round to it! xx
