So I’ve made a few changes in the dining room and I thought I’d share them with you on this fine Monday morning.  As I’ve been using a lot of reddish-orange in the room, I thought I’d just kind of go with that and make a few small changes mostly involving spray paint.

Last time I showed the gallery wall on the blog it looked kinda like this…

Now it looks something like this…

Hmmm… hard to tell at first, right?  Go on, scroll back up, I’ll wait.

What do you mean “no”??  Ok, well, I’ll help ya out.

First off, I painted the plain white frames which contained the french manga wallpaper in Montana Gold’s Pure Orange.

I then spray-painted two of my more ornate frames which were a silvery-gold colour in Montana Gold Gold Chrome to tie in better with the other gold elements in the room and the newly sprayed gold sideboard pulls.

I also recently purchased a pack of 100 Postcards of Vintage Vanity Fair Covers by Penguin and changed up some of my ‘art’.  I love the colours and style of the magazine covers of years ago, with so much more emphasis on interesting illustrations rather than depending upon the wonders of Photoshopped starlets.  And I love the idea of changing them depending upon my mood with 100 designs to choose from!

I didn’t get a great picture of it, but I also spray-painted the little gold sun god and generally swapped around a few things to balance it all out.

Along with some of the gallery wall updates, when we were in Cheltenham, I picked up a lovely vintage set of cocktail tumblers and a matching pitcher.

The pitcher has the same gold leaves pattern as the tumblers…

Oh and I moved the faux snakeskin tray to house our spirits as well.  I’m actually starting to run out of room on my barcart now – must resist buying any more vintage glassware!

As you probably spotted already, I couldn’t resist trying out my Chiang Mai Dragon fabric which I’m planning on making into a roman blind for the room.  For these pictures, I just threw it on the table as a table cloth but I absolutely love the way the pattern pics up the grey, oranges, yellows and reds in the room and introduces a bit of blue, turquoise and green as well.

Perhaps I should have ironed it before putting it on the table but good god, it’s beautiful fabric.

Let’s see… what else?  Oooh I finally got myself a couple of these puppies on eBay which I’ve been trying to find a bargain on for like FOREVER…

I know foo dogs are everywhere at the minute but I liked that they tied in with the other chinoiserie elements that have been introduced to the room.

I’ve also recently scored these pretty vintage Chinese plates on eBay (after I took all the pics of the room which is why they don’t appear in all my pictures) and I’m really liking the beautiful colours they’ve pulled into the room.  I got a set of 4 but I’m not sure what I’ll do with the other two yet.  I might end up hanging them up at some point.

I like that they add a bit of layering to the mantle which I’m working on when I create vignettes.

One more thing I’ve done in here!  Remember my post last week about painting radiators?  Well, I did the same in this room.

I was trying to find an old picture showing the radiator in all it’s brilliant white glory before I painted it and found this one from back in November last year, obviously doing my best to disguise it.

And this is what it looks like now…  So much better now that it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb!

So that’s where I am with my dining room at the moment.  I need to get off my arse already and sew the roman blind but I’m slightly paralysed with fear of cutting into that fabric!  I know, I know, I seriously need to get over it already.

We also desperately need to sand and finish the floors in here because every time I take pictures in this room, I am hyper aware of how frankly, they look a bit shit.  It’s on the agenda, kids, I promise.  More to come as always…
