Ever since I decided that the wall in my dining room needed some help, I’ve been on the search for the perfect console table for the space. I’ve weighed up my options along with you lovely peeps’ suggestions and finally decided I was looking for something with some gravitas (but not too heavy so as to compete with the sideboard) with brass or gold accents and a bit of storage.
I also found this cute gold pineapple at the same time. I have been eyeing up vintage brass pineapples for a while but my god, they are expensive. So when I came across this one, I just had to get it. Cute, no?
Check out the detail of the pattern on the front… And the shiny goodness… yum yum!
I never was very satisfied with the styling on this console and I realised it was because there was simply too many things on it. So I changed a few pieces around, shopping the rest of the dining room and living room to create a new vignette. I’m pretty happy with the final result. (For now, of course, things never stay the same around here for too long…)
Wanna know where I got it? Sure you do. I got it from the Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen collection on Isme.com. I KNOW, RIGHT?! So you are probably shaking your head in disbelief because to be honest, I never would have even CONSIDERED that they might have my dream piece for under Β£200. Plus, I had a Β£20 voucher so I got it for Β£180. And let me just say, it’s REALLY good quality – it’s very very heavy (it took 2 of us to lift it into place). And no, this isn’t a sponsored post – I just really like it. The pineapple is from the same collection for a mere Β£22 (it doesn’t appear to be on the site any more, sorry).
The same design comes in a few different pieces as well (sideboard, end tables, coffee table), comes in both black and red (I’d love to see it in white!) and although I obviously wouldn’t recommend the whole matchy-matchy vibe, individually I think they are rather special.
I also just thought I’d mention that they have this chest of drawers for a mere Β£299. It’s hand-painted and is a gorgeous alternative for the inlay pieces you see selling for more than 4 times that much…
Yes, there is still a lot of ugly on there but there are a few gems on that site that I would consider good value – it may surprise you. It did me!
Anyway, back to my dining room, it’s kind of hard to believe that back in January, I started this wall with a rough idea of what I wanted and in that time we’ve gone from this…
…to this… (why hello there colourful room)
So what do you think of the new console? Ever find what you were looking for in the unlikeliest of places? Are you as surprised as I am that Isme has some rather lovely things these days?
AMAZING! That wall colour is so bold – can't wait till I move to a place that allows me to paint so I can use impactful colours like you have.
I'm loving the console!!! Is it really LLB?! I just got put of by his flamboyance on Changing Rooms but he clearly knows how to design. Great tablescape too. I so wish I could have a charming tablescape that stays in place (and isn't immediately covered with random mail, letters from school etc.). My family has no respect for tablescapes.
the table is reallllly gorgeous – what a fantastic find! it's frustrating to have to wait and wait to find the right piece, but then it's so worth it. and i love the amazing transformation of this room overall. the blue looks so good!
– jackie @ jade and oak
That's lovely – it looks as if it was made for your dining room!
Killer find my dear! You patience paid off in spades. I don't think you could have found something more perfect. And you rocked the styling too. :) xo
Perfect! Well done Laurence! Love that bronze plant pot on your Zara side table as well!
Love it! The gloss looks great in your dining room.
