Well it’s December and so I’m officially allowed to talk about Christmas! Yes the C word is finally allowed and while it seems to come earlier and earlier every single year, I’m actually a little later than usual to share my Christmas decor. Β Today, however, is a little extra special and hopefully worth the wait. I’m kicking off the very first UK Home Blog Hop for Christmas. While our friends on the other side of the pond have been doing this for years, I figured it was time to get together a whole bunch of fabulous UK bloggers and share our homes with you too.
All this week over 20 different UK bloggers will be opening their homes to you to share everything Christmas related. We have home tours, beautiful trees, table settings, tips for getting a creative look, recipes and more all this week so please do check the bottom of this post to see ALL the tours which will go live throughout the week as well as the next blog on the hop so you can follow the whole thing through from here! That’s a lot of Christmas bang for your buck right there!!
So as the host, I’m starting off the week-long festivities sharing my dining room. You may recall that we completely revamped this room over the Spring and so I decided to decorate the space in shades of black, white, gold and blush pink! Well, I’ve never been particularly traditional in my Christmas decor…
While I purchased a few new bits and pieces, for the most part, I try to use things I already have around the house mixed in with Christmas decor I use pretty much every year. The truth is, I simply don’t have the space to store loads and so the more I can re-use and re-purpose what I do have, the less storage I need and the less money I need to spend!
I do like to mix things up colour-wise year on year however and I decided the blush pink in the room was the perfect foil for all the gold in here. I did pick up those velvet and sequin stockings at Next this year and I love how reflective they are with the little lights in the fireplace.
I adore these little white ceramic houses from Dot Com GiftshopΒ which you may remember from last year. I was actually looking forward to getting them out again because they are just so sweet when they are lit up at night. Finishing off the look is a gold and white tree tea light set (from Next, many moons ago!) and a couple of large glass hurricane lamps (also old!) which I simply filled with pink baubles.
It’s the first year, that we’ve had our large sideboard in this room so I had a bit of fun decorating this for Christmas! I used two large prints from The Curiosity Department, candles and a gorgeously large glass Christmas tree graciously gifted to me byΒ One World Trading. Inside the glass, I simply used a gold garland from West Elm and gold and pink baubles. I really love how it came out all filled up and love that it can be changed every year.
The sideboard was decorating was complete with a little tray (a DIY!) filled with gold glasses, a stack of Christmas plates and bowls plus a few quirky items – because nothing says Christmas like gold elephants and pineapples. WHAT. Oh and that white thing is an Amazon Echo* which is my new favourite thing ever.
On the black console table, it’s like Christmas-in-the-tropics! My white deer statues (from Wayfair last year) surrounded by leafy plants and I simply filled a large gold bowl with pink baubles. The ‘fill everything with baubles’ is a running theme around here if you hadn’t noticed. It’s cheap and easy and looks great!
I also figured I’d show off a few of my vintage glasses on a gold tray along with my ‘Cheers’ object from West Elm. My print from Society6* finishes off the vignette as well as a pineapple filled with gold cutlery.
I kept the table fairly simple but I really love how festive it came out. It’s so easy to create a centrepiece with a cake stand, some baubles and a tray full of glasses. The pretty bottle of spirits matched the theme – it’s Edinburgh Gin Rhubarb and Ginger Liqueur* and when I spotted the pink bottle, I knew I had to have it!
I layered two table runners – a gold and white one I’ve had for years from Zara Home and a really simple blush pink linen one from West Elm. A little bowl of chocolates and some pretty gold napkins and we’re ready to party. On Friday, I’ll be sharing the fully set table so stay tuned for that!
Speaking of party, my bar cart got a little festive as well with the addition of two white LED Christmas trees I purchased from Rockett St George. I love these things SO MUCH.
They are so pretty and glowy at night and I added a few tiny baubles to the branches to tie in with the gold look. I also used a few little sprigs of greenery here and there to make it a bit more Christmassy.
Oh, you’ll also notice that I repeated a trick I used last year (I’ve actually done this many times before!) and I covered the large colourful abstracts with leopard print gold foil wrapping paper. They were sort of jarring with the theme so simply wrapping them with paper makes them blend better with the rest of the decor! It’s such an easy way of updating a room for Christmas and it looks rather festive. You can even add large ribbon bows to make them look like giant presents on the wall!
So that’s my Christmas dining room! It’s the first time I’ve been able to decorate this space since the remodel and I’m really quite pleased with how it turned out!
Now it’s time to head on over to Emily’s at The Pink House. Her style is so much fun and I have no doubt you are going to absolutely love her Christmas decor! If you want to follow the whole tour this week, check out the links below! The tours go live at 11am GMT each day so be sure to come back all this week as the posts go live for even more Christmas inspiration and check out #UKHomeBlogHop on Instagram and Twitter for more!
It looks stunning. Pour me a drink, I’m coming over! Thanks so much for organising the blog hop – I’m honoured to take part. xx
Looking absolutely stunning hun. You have set the bar very high I have to say lol. Thanks for organising this. Can’t wait to share mine on Thursday and looking forward to seeing how different we all are. xx
I. Love. It. All!! Quelle surprise lol
And what a great idea, I’m looking forward to getting into all the other posts too :)
So golden and festive! Looks truely beautiful- when’s the cocktail party then?!?
Beautiful and grown up – love it xx
It’s looking gorgeous, I love the gold and blush pink – very grown up glam.
Looks amazing, what a great idea for interiors nosey parkers :) I can’t wait till 2017 when I’ll be able to properly celebrate Christmas again after a monster renovation. Will have to join in next year! xx
It looks good incredible Kimberly, you have really set the bar high but am so looking forward to seeing what everyone else shares.
Stunning! Your styling always makes me want to rescroll to take in every little detail. Merry Christmas
Looks great! But why is the fiddle leaf fig not decorated? If my Freddy had decent branches instead of just upright stems, I’d decorate the HELL out of him! :D
Hahaha! The fiddle leaf was a very last minute addition to the room (realising I needed to move it to fit the Christmas tree in the bay window) so I didn’t get the chance ;) I might get some little LEDs on it however, dress him up a bit! xx
soooo beautiful! love the pink and gold and it’s just perfect in your home.
Your room looks so gorgeous and festive Kimberly. I LOVE it. Wrapping your art to make presents on the wall is genius! I’m excited for the blog hop too. Well done for borrowing a great idea from our stateside friends. I can’t wait to see what some of my other favourite bloggers have in store. xx
Stunning!! I love the gold and the blush pink together. And the stockings are amazing. My decorating theme for Christmas tends to be ‘big, bright mess’. I need you to teach me colour restraint!!
Beautiful! Your photography is amazing and it’s incredible how you can show us each detail through it! beautiful home! Thank you for having me in the loop :)
Hi Kimberly
looks amazing. I love the bar cart, it was totally made for that space!
Wow, it looks amazing, Kimberley. Can I come to yours for Christmas lunch? :D
xx
It looks amazing – I so want to be at your house! I love the addition of the pink as well. I think it really softens up the effect of the gold. Beautiful. On the subject of gold, as I know you love it, can you recommend any lovely drinks glasses out there? I’ve bought my friends the gorgeous gold cutlery from Cox and Cox and I’ve been desperately trying to find some lovely glasses or something else to go with it. Just thinking you might know exactly where some beauties might be on sale!! Thanks x
Try Anthropologie! They have some gorgeous glasses. Oh and West Elm too! Hope that helps ;) xxx
That looks good Kimberly. It looks very Christmassy, but has a sophisticated feel, with a touch of Swoon worthy thrown in. A nice cocktail mix of taste for the senses. xxx
I love, love what you’ve done. It’s so festive and elegant.
xx
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous, just love it all. I am a massive gin fan and that rhubarb and ginger liqueur is in my collection. For a fabulush cocktail you can make a ‘Rhubarb and Custard’ (tastes just like the old fashioned sweets!) Mix the liqueur with some Advocat, shake over ice, pour into one of your pretty glasses, add a splash of lemonade, gentle stir and enjoy! Chin-chin!
Wow it looks stunning, the pink and gold combo is the best ever! Loving the tour :) xx
Wow I just love it all Kimberley!! So delicate but sophisticated at the same time, so stunning! I have a Christmas home Tour on my blog at the moment, although it’s summer here in New Zealand! Xx
It all looks stunning Kimberly, I’m borrowing your blush & gold theme this year thanking you!!! Loving the bar cart – bottom’s up!!
Looks great. I love the bowls of baubles! Such a simple idea :)
Damn girl! I love everything about your space and all that blush pink is gorgeous!!!!! BTW, I love the new look!
That is just beautiful! I love the pink. But what had me yelling out loud is that gorgeous fiddle leaf! Is that the same one from the tv room? I love, love it. I’ve killed 3 at this point and cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong. And I know the are totally passe now in the decor world, but I don’t care. I love them!
And I’d love to hear about that echo. I’m trying to decide. Why do you love it? What does it add to your life?
Beautiful work, glamorous and festive finally go together. I can’t wait to see the table setting at the end of the week as well!
I love everything about this! Stunning, and still full of so much colour. The gold and blush pink work together so well. It looks very Christmassy and a perfect place to have a Christmas dinner. Thanks for hosting such a great blog hop!
What a beautiful and glamourous dining room. I love the gold and pink so much. I’ve got to start decorating my rooms soon x
Simply Stunning!!! Love it!!!
It’s beautiful Kimberly!
I must admit, I really miss having any sort of fireplace/mantel at this time of year especially. Loving all the wreath and baubles draped over yours.
So thrilled to be a part of this blog hop :) x
Aaaah Kimberley! It looks so beautiful! Your home is gorgeous. Three Bengals, two three year olds and a very mess husband ensures that I’ll never have a home like yours, sadly!! So sad not to be part of this amazing blog hop!! What a lovely collection of bloggers! Caro xx
By God, lady… you know how to decorate a room!! FAB-ulous xx
Your dining room looks so so pretty, Kimberly! Really delightful! And what a fantastic idea this festive blog hop is, well done you!
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! You certainly have the knack of classy decorating down to a fine art! I am really loving this blog hop – but I’ve not had time to enjoy each post properly until now, so I’m starting here and working my way through! Bravo to you for your beautiful images (and organisation skillz!) Xx
Love your use of leopard print with all the Christmas decorβso rich!
