Update 2021: Please note, I’m no longer taking on Finishing Touch clients. Thank you to all the wonderful people I’ve worked with over the last 2 years!
I can not be more excited to be sharing the details of a new little venture (EEEK!) but first a bit of background…
For a very long time, I have been thinking of how I can take Swoon Worthy to the next level – not so much in terms of the blog itself but the ways in which I could expand on the things I love to do and create new challenges for myself. I made lists, talked to friends and fellow bloggers, sent out surveys and even started a few projects that never saw the light of day. I knew there was more I could be doing and I wanted to grow but I wasn’t sure which direction to go.
When you own your own business (and yes, Swoon Worthy is my baby and always will be but it’s also a business which helps us pay the mortgage), there will always be periods of contentment and periods of growth and I feel like I’ve been ready for a ‘growth spurt’ for quite some time. After thinking closely about what makes Swoon Worthy different, one thing that always seemed to crop up and something that was always commented on by friends, bloggers, readers and my social media followers was my styling skills.
You probably know that I love a bit of styling and there is nothing I love more than having a bit of a faff with accessories, cushions, art, candles – the lot. I have written many posts on styling over the years and I even had a pin on how to style a coffee table go viral on Pinterest. Iβve spent nearly a decade honing my own decorating skills and Iβve styled hundreds of products from brands and businesses in lifestyle imagery that has gone on to be shared across everything from major newspapers to social media feeds to marketing materials and beyond. The styled spaces in my home have graciously appeared in countless magazines as well as in four different interior design books.
Now you know that Iβve always shared what Iβve learned about decorating and styling with my readers across the globe on my blog. However, I know not everyone wants to take a DIY approach! And so, I’m rather excited that from these things, an idea was born – a new challenge that I can not wait to get started with! Introducing (drumroll)… Finishing Touch Styling Service (cymbal crash)!
After all, we know that a really inviting space isn’t just about the colour you put on the walls. It’s all about the story it tells – the story of you. Itβs about filling in the gaps with things that make you smile, layering the plants, filling your frames with art or photos, adding your favourite candle scents, bringing your home to life.
But I know how for many, styling can be overwhelming. Where do you even start when pulling in those final finishing touches? With so many various items needed to create a well-styled home, many find the process too difficult to even start, allowing their surfaces to stay bare (or pile up with clutter! Nature abhors a vacuum after all) or buying a few items and then not knowing what to do with them.
My brand new finishing touch service will take the guesswork out of styling your home to create the coordinated space youβve always dreamed of. The entire service from start to finish is done via email and items are all sourced online which means you donβt even have to leave your home to create your finished space.
How the Finishing Touch Styling Service Works
THE CONSULTATION
Weβll start off with a questionnaire over email where weβll cover what areas youβd like help styling, your budget and any special requirements. Once the questionnaire is completed, Iβll be asking you to send photos to make sure the items I choose for you will blend seamlessly with your chosen style and personality. From the practical to the pretty, you can be sure your finishing touches fit your existing space beautifully.
THE EDIT
You can also send photos of the accessories, textiles or artwork you already own. Iβll help you work with what you already have and love in order to reduce your spending and make the most of your budget. Sometimes all it takes to see an old item in a whole new light is a change of context!
THE SHOPPING LIST
Iβll then pull together a shopping list linked to online retailers with the art, accessories, soft furnishings and objects Iβve chosen to complete your space β all within in your chosen style and colour scheme. Along with that, Iβll share electronic mood boards and styling tips to make sure each piece makes your room sing.
THE FINISHED LOOK
One round of edits are included in your price to make sure weβve covered all your requirements. Then, with your shopping list and styling tips to hand, thereβs no guesswork involved and you can finish your room at your own pace all within your chosen budget.
What difference does styling make?
Just a few examples of what can be achieved simply by styling your space!
My client Naziaβs flat had plenty of great features and she had some wonderful foundation pieces β she just needed help with those all-important details that really make a room feel complete. Using my styling tips and accessory suggestions, her home came alive, creating a warm and inviting space for cosy evenings at home and entertaining friends.
Who is the service for?
If youβve been staring at a space thatβs nearly done but just doesnβt have that final flair, I can help! Iβd love to help your space and surfaces reach their full potential! Please remember, this isn’t full-service interior design. This is for those of you who are happy with the foundations of your room but that final finishing touch – the accessories, the art, the soft furnishings – just aren’t cutting it or you haven’t had the opportunity to really complete your space.
You may have found that perfect sofa but what cushions would work best with the wall colour? You may love your bed but how do you style it so it gives it that boutique hotel luxe look you’re after? You may have put in open shelving in your kitchen but what would look best displayed? Perhaps you may have gotten to a certain point in your decorating and got stuck when it came to finally finishing that room because the choices out there are just too overwhelming and you don’t want to waste money. Maybe getting the foundations right took every last bit of your energy and you simply don’t have the time or inclination to spend on the finer details.
If you see yourself in these examples, well, this is your service! Who else is it perfect for?
PERFECT FOR NEW BUILDS
Lacking those all-important character details, I can help you add the creative touches required to create warmth and timelessness.
PERFECT FOR RENTERS
Canβt touch your fixtures or fittings? Stuck with the plain furnishings of your landlord? I can work with what you have to create a personality-filled space just by adding a few simple touches. Best of all, all the items I choose can be taken with you if you move!
PERFECT FOR FIRST-TIME BUYERS
Getting your keys can be both exhilarating and terrifying! Iβll help you to create warm and cosy spaces with the final spices to bring your new home to life.
How Much Does The Service Cost?
As this is a brand new service, Iβm offering this finishing touch service for a very limited time only at just Β£99 per room! I’m only opening up this service at this price to a very few selected clients and once those places are filled, then the rates will most certainly rise. So it’s your opportunity to get in early – I want to test out the service, see if there is any room for improvement and create a larger portfolio of work. That’s where you might just come in and we can help each other!
How To Sign Up For the Service
If this is ticking your boxes and you’d like help styling a room in your home, then please click on my Finish Touch page and fill out the box at the bottom of your screen. Please remember, numbers are limited and this special offer won’t last long! I’m also only offering this up at the moment to my UK readers but I might consider expanding the service in time to other regions if there are enough requests from a particular country so do let me know if you’d like me to consider yours!
I genuinely feel so excited about this new venture and can’t wait to transform your spaces! I have some other plans in the works for the future as well but this is the first baby step so even if this particular service isn’t for you, there will be some other fun things coming up in the future that might just be! Of course, if you have any friends you know who might love the service please do consider sharing this post or my Finishing Touch Styling Service page so they can fill out the form. I hope you love this idea as much as I do! Would this be a service you’d consider?
Congratulations Kimberly on expanding Swoon Worthy! What a great service to offer and you do have a brilliant flair for styling. I do literally ‘swoon’ over your pics!! xx
I am in the US, and would love to use your service!
I’m sure you’ll be very successful. Your talent for finishing touches is amazing. Good luck and be sure to allow us blog watchers to peek at some of your clients’ results.
How exciting! This is perfect for your talents. Best wishes for great success!
This is so exciting! Congratulations on your new venture. Hereβs to diversification πβ¨
Brilliant idea and I’m sure it will be a great success. You have really found your perfect niche in the market for ‘interior styling’ – how many of us start on the decorating (or get someone else to do it!) and then get totally overwhelmed by all the choice out there and never really finish a room – certainly applies to me. Your skills at choosing accessories to really give a room the wow factor are amazing, all looks so easy but it certainly isn’t! Well done Kimberly and I wish you every success, may even be using you!
Exciting times ahead Kimberly, it a fantastic idea and with your creative touch you will do really well. Xxx
So exciting! I wish you all the very best for this new endeavour. x
This is such an amazing idea Kimberley! So many people struggle to ever feel finished with a room once the major bits are done, so I absolutely know this is going to be a great success – who better to help them than the Queen of Styling?!
I may not have your flair for it, but styling a finished room is something I absolutely love doing – my problem is never actually finishing the darn rooms! If you had a service for that I would be all over it (but actually just need a kick up the backside to get on with things!) xx
All the best with your new styling service! I would like to see some of your work for clients.
