I admit, I rarely decorate for Halloween. There is a reason for this and it’s not because I hate the holiday – in fact, I don’t. IΒ do rather enjoy all the creepy festivities in all their strange glory (gory?) and IΒ often marvel at howΒ incredibly creative people can be. The issue is one of practicalities – I just don’t have the room to store yet more decor that’s only usedΒ once a year. My home is a modest size and well, I have a lot of STUFF. SoΒ while Christmas decor getsΒ prioritisedΒ as I can enjoy that for the entire month of December, I have to draw the line at the lesser holidays.
That said, I do love a bit of weird in my home as you probably know. So I figured I’d gather some of my ‘weird’ together and do a little Glam Halloween shelfie. The funny thing is, for as Halloween-inspired as this may seem, I already owned all of these things and they decorate my house year-round. The trick is to gather them all in one display area just to up the ‘creep-factor’. I think it works rather well and no additional storage is required!

The thing is with any holiday decorating is that you can, in fact, create a nod towards Halloween without actually going out and buying pumpkins, orange and black paper cups and skeleton bunting. If you are looking for some ideas for glam decor that can double up as Halloween decor, you’ve come to the right place.
I’ve chosen a whole bunch of items that I love and that would work well in any home that appreciates a bit of glam all year round but look especially spooktacular (see what I did there?) around Halloween. Gold and black is an incredibly elegant combination and works beautifully for the Autumn but it just needs a small tweak of additional “weird” to make the perfect glam Halloween decor without worrying you will have to pack it away once the last of the trick-or-treaters have made off with your favourite chocolate bars.

Halloween is such a unique and strange holiday that it’s sad people turn to orange and black bunting and witch masks! The pieces you show are not only far less tacky than the usual fare, but they reintroduce that nuanced side of Halloween which many have forgotten in their commercialisation of the holiday – it’s about the uncanny, the slightly odd, and those little quirks in people which are a bit strange. The fact that you can use all these pieces year-round in your home only serves to reinforce that.
I love the skull bath towel. xxx
