The thing is, it’s getting a bit chillier. The temperatures have dipped just a little and the leaves here oop North are already starting to turn. I admit, I quite love this time of year. As much as I dread the coming winter, it’s really quite lovely when it starts going dark a bit earlier and you have an excuse to put your pyjamas on at 7pm (okay, that’s a lie, I can always find an excuse to wear pyjamas no matter what time of day.) The other thing I love about it is that I totally go into nesting mode. The whole house gets a little cosier, my candles come out and I start layering. Cushions and throws are my downfall – I have far more than I need but I couldn’t help but add one more this year. Bank holiday weekend and so far, so good weather wise in Manchester, which is highly unusual! Anyway, Julia only lives a few miles away from me and is honestly the loveliest most down-to-earth person ever! I love the fact that being a blogger allows me to meet some amazing creative people and it’s so cool that she lives so close by! Well, I’d been coveting one of her beautiful Mongolian sheepskin runners for some time. Autumn really is the perfect season to invest in some super cosy accessories and this beautiful grey version really is just the most beautiful thing to touch. It’s soft and silky and adds such a gorgeous texture anywhere you place it. This throw has such a feel-good factor. It’s like petting a kitty belly (which, genuinely, is the best thing ever in the whole world, says the crazy cat lady) except this won’t decide it’s had enough and scratch you to pieces. I had a bit of fun styling it and I’m showing it off in a few different spots in my home today. You can see it in my bedroom above on a rainy day when all I wanted to do was crawl into a self-made nest and chill out with a hot cuppa and a good magazine. And biscuits. Because it’s Autumn and I need extra warmth in winter. Ahem. It worked equally well in my living room. On the sofa, it becomes the perfect spot to nestle down to the latest Netflix binge and adds some additional texture to the room. But it looks just as yummy on my vintage hoop chair with the morning sunlight streaming in, inviting me to enjoy the first cup of coffee in total comfort… As much as I desperately love this all over my house, I think where it’s actually going to live is down in the Glam Cave for the time being. The sofa down there is a bit firm so I love layering it up with soft throws and this one works perfectly down there. I’d never shy away from anything that gives a room some neutral texture and a piece like this is so versatile that I doubt I’ll even put it away when the summer inevitably returns. It’s just way too cosy, way too soft and way too beautiful to be hiding in a cupboard somewhere.
