Well, you’ll be very happy to know that we’re coming into the final stages now of Operation Bathroom Remodel. The tiling is almost fully completed (out of the 350 tiny hex tiles we had to individually cut and place, we are down to the last 17!!! WHOOP!) which means very soon we can get on to grouting (which doesn’t take anywhere near as long) and the final touches. Final stretch, people, final stretch!!*
*Just as a side note… If it hadn’t been so incredibly rainy this winter we’d have been able to do more sooner but I can’t complain – my heart goes out to all those who are suffering due to the floods that have affected so many. When you think people have lost so much in their homes, a bit of a delay in a bathroom remodel doesn’t really seem very important in comparison.
Anyway, as I can’t really share the work on the bathroom just yet, I thought I’d share a few changes I’ve made in the bedroom.
As you may remember from this post, I ordered a couple of new leopard print cushions from Hollie’s shop Stuck on Hue and was thrilled when they finally arrived. I freaking LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I just want to spend my days, stroking them, whispering sweet nothings and proclaiming my undying love.
Speaking of sweet sweet love, I also was recently contacted by Wayfair, asking if I’d like to choose something from their vast collection of homewares – it probably took me about 3 days of browsing (there is SO MUCH on that site, it’s unreal) until I finally settled on a seriously gorgeous ornate gold mirror. At the time, I thought I might use it in the hallway when we finally get around to a full remodel, but I decided to try it in the bedroom and I have to say, I really love it in here.
We didn’t really have a mirror in the bedroom and I’ve wanted one for a while so this is a perfect fit. It’s huge and heavy and works so well with the eclectic glam look I’ve gone for in the bedroom – I’m utterly in love with it!
And you may recognise that little table underneath the mirror… Remember I was saying how my old coffee table was broken into side tables and that I’d probably use the rectangular piece in the office remodel? Well, for now, it’s hanging out under the mirror along with a fluffy throw on top. I’m now thinking… maybe I should convert it into a fluffy bench for in here? At the moment, it’s probably only suitable for the cats as I wouldn’t want to put too much weight on the glass! It does look pretty in the meantime although a DIY may be in it’s future…
That isn’t the only ‘old thing given new life’ in here. I have been debating changing up a few pieces on the gallery wall in the dining room. One of those pieces that was marked to go was my Martini & Rossi poster – I loved it, I just didn’t love it THERE any longer. In a fit of genius, I realised it would be perfect in the bedroom and can’t believe I hadn’t realised it before. Of course, I now have a big blank spot on my gallery wall but that just means I get to buy new art for there! Whoop! (Any excuse really…)
But wait – There’s more! You may remember these framed prints I had in the first incarnation of our bathroom. I can’t for the life of me remember where I got them (I’ve had them for a very long time) but they had silver frames which I’d been meaning to spray paint for months now. Due to aforementioned rain, that hasn’t happened but when the sun finally shone on Saturday, I finally got the chance. I think as these are slightly larger than the Ikea prints I used to have here, they work a little better and of course, they’ve been blinged-up Swoon Worthy style.
I’m pretty happy with this view right here…
The one spot I’m not happy with is the chest of drawers. I feel like it’s missing something since I moved the white horse figure to my side of the bed and I couldn’t seem to really make it work with what I had around the house. I hung up the large vertical canvas on the wall (it used to just lean on the chest of drawers) and I wanted to include the framed beermat from Boadas from our trip to Barcelona so I added that as well. But I think I need (yet another) tray and a few cool bits to make it work with the ‘boho glam’ look of the rest of the room. Getting there though.
We still need new wardrobes and new carpeting for in here but what we have at the moment – while ugly – is functional and I have bigger priorities in terms of where our budget is going right now. I also want to add a rug in here but I just haven’t decided on the right one yet. I’ve also recently ordered some new bedding so waiting on that! In the meantime, just bear in mind that I’m aware these things aren’t great! However, considering I’ve not spent a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, mostly using bits from around my home, I am loving the new look in here.
How about you? What do you think of the changes? Have you made any little refreshes around the home lately?
Disclaimer: I was provided the mirror free from Wayfair in exchange for my review but all images, opinions, poor attempts at humour and general randomness are always my very own. Thanks for supporting the businesses that support Swoon Worthy!

Do it!! You know what they say… once you go black… (I won't finish that) ;) xxx
And you should be happy with it my dear! Have I told you how much I truly love your bedroom?! I think it feels so bright and warm.
Aww cheers chick! That means a lot coming from someone who's style I so admire!! xxx
Ah, you know how I love your completely OTT style (even if it's not for me in my own home)! Your bedroom looks fabulous and dramatic. There's something "Vegas meets the 70's meets Italian opulence" about it – in a really great way. Love that mirror!!! Now I'm looking forward to seeing the bathroom :-) xo
I know I've told you this before, but I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR HOME! I'm talking about fearless design on my blog today and I shared your blog with my readers. I so commend you for those black walls! I was thinking about a black accent wall in the bedroom, but now I'm really considering just painting it all black. I was just wondering, how does that colour make you feel when you're in it? Honestly, one wouldn't think it would be calming or relaxing, then again I have no idea, as I've never stood in a black room before.

Any
It's like your cocooned in it – it's lovely and cosy. I started off just doing one wall and once I went the whole hog, there's just no comparison. I do think it depends upon the room however – the bedroom has quite high ceilings and big windows so gets great light during the day. I'm not sure if a room without those qualities would work quite as well in black but in this one, I
I like moving art around. I think after a while you start not to notice things if they've been in the same place for months, so it's refreshing to rotate artwork and see it in a new light. At Mottisfont, a National Trust place near the New Forest, one of the guides told me the family kept some of their paintings in secret storage compartments behind the bookcase in the library, and
Absolutely gorgeous! I'm totally crushing on the black and gold mix.
