Now I know I’m not the only weird one that creates their tablescape a week in advance just to make sure it looks okay (please please tell me I’m not alone in this).Β There’s no pulling together at the last minute for me, I’m far too OCD for that rubbish.Β No, last weekend, I set the entire table and I didn’t have any company at all.Β Β Let’s call it a trial run.Β And plus, on Christmas day, if you think I’m going to entertain, cook AND take blog-worthy pictures, I hate to disappoint you.Β That’s so not gonna happen.
So here it goes. Β My trial run.
I know it deeply shocks you all that I’ve gone with a predominantly gold and white table.Β And added a bit of animal print. Β Some call it “predictable”, I call it “consistent.”
The vintage style tray that I had in my dressing room was called in for duty to house a bit of colour in the way of a poinsettia and a couple of white ceramic tealight holders I purchased when we visited Cheltenham earlier this year.
A little dash of blue is provided by mini baubles added to the base of gold dinner candles.
The chairs were decked out with mini wreaths and tied with gold ribbon and a Christmas ornament that says ‘JINGLE’ with little bells.
The tablecloth – which I absolutely LOVE – came from Zara Home. Β The pattern is subtly metallic, with just a hint of a sparkly sheen and reflects nicely under candle light.
And little gold tree place holders were added, purchased from Next.
As were the glass candle sticks which, like most of the items seen, I can use anytime. Β All the glasses on the table are vintage, purchased last year from eBay for a song.
The little vintage brass elephants have made an appearance as well as I’ve been loving all theΒ little gold animals on table settingsΒ this past year.Β In fact, I like that the table doesn’t scream ‘Christmas’. Β Here’s an overhead shot of the whole shebang.
The dinner plates were purchased from Zara Home as well.Β I so love their little bubble border in gold. The gold cutlery was purchased last year on eBay. Β The gold-rimmed Christmas Tree plates were purchased in the sales last year. Β I’ve had the dappled gold chargers since around January. I loveΒ how the patterns all mingle quite nicely.
And finally, here’s the room shot with everything lit up!Β Festive-a-rama! Β It looks nicer in the evening with the candles and fairy lights twinkling away on the mantle and bar cart.
So that’s my Christmas tablescape! Β I do hope you like it! Β Are you planning a pretty tabletop for Christmas? Β There’s only a few days left until the big day – are you ready?
Want to see last year’s table? Β You can see it here.
Wow! Incredible! I think you might be alone with that one… It's beautiful and you really have paid attention to every little detail (of course you have!) but do you think you might be putting a lot of pressure on yourself? Only asking… :-) I do like the idea of actually being able to take photos though, so in that case, it makes complete sense ;-) xo
gorgeous! really beautiful.
It looks wonderful. Very stylish, better than a 5 star hotel/restaurant. Love the Christmas tree plates. Your guests will feel very special indeed. x
red, it looks absolutely divine! what lucky guests! all the metallic and animal print and opulence is so you. how cool that you get to enjoy this for a while too before it's trashed!<br /><br />i haven't set the table yet cuz i'm beat. but it'll be our wedding china and a kraft paper runner that i stencil with script. a mint julep vase of roses and mercury glass. i'll snap
Red, your holiday decor is absolutely fab!! All the little details… wow! I can almost hear 'fa-la-la-la-la…' it looks so festive! Hope you and W have a wonderful Christmas! <br /><br />Lots of love, <br />Meera
So much eye candy! How can you even eat off that table?! Don't get it dirty please, it will stress me out. It's too pretty.
Your table is gorgeous! And I NEED those tiny brass elephants. (I have the mummy elephant sitting on my piano). I'm so jealous about your glasses, too. I spent the better part of a day trying to source some vintage gold rimmed glasses. I found a lot of silver but not gold. You've inspired me to waste another few hours searching ;)<br /><br />Just noticed what's missing, Christmas
The bubble plates are my favorite part, but I do like how it all fits together, especially the layering of the plates. <br /><br />This year we forgot to get out our Christmas plates (which don't match my decor now anyway). We're hosting my mom, brother, and sister-in-law next week, but I'm feeling Scroogey at this point and don't feel like making the extra effort. Is that bad? I
I love the Xmas tree plates! Where did you get those?
Oh. My. Gaaaawd. Redilocks/Kimberly, this is absolutely BANANAS! Leopard print, gold cutlery, Zara Home ethnic print and bling elephants?! I literally cannot imagine a more perfect setting in which to gobble one's turkey.<br /><br />Wow, seriously this is very beautiful and I plan to 100% imitate next year. Ha, kidding. Maybe…
